Hawaii hotel business booming
Hotels are doing so well in Hawaii the state is on track to its second-best year ever.
Hospitality Advisors LLC says Hawaii hotels this year should cross the 14 million room-night sales level. The record was set in 2000 when they topped 15 million room nights.
Hotels across the board are seeing an upswing in traffic. For example:
- Luxury, up 12%.
- Upscale, up 15%.
- Mid-price, up 9%.
- Economy, up 10&.
- Budget, up 9%.
Hawaii hotel occupancy for the first nine months has been 79.2%, second only to New York at 80%. San Diego came in third with 74.3%, followed by Long Beach at 73%.
During September, occupancy was almost 75%, compared to 70% a year ago.
