Hays Travel defects from Amadeus
Independent retail chain Hays Travel has switched its GDS business from Amadeus to Travelport, which will supply the agency with digital marketing partnerships and services in addition to air and hotel content.
Travelport said its Smartpoint app, which translates GDS language to make it easier for agents trained on one system to more easily switch to another, had allowed for a smooth transition for the northeast-based miniple.
It also claimed Travelport will deliver "significant" efficiencies to Hays’ staff, such as reducing key strokes by up to 72% when booking a flight.
Hays Travel founder and CEO John Hays said: "A critical component in selecting our GDS provider was finding a company that could not only provide us with innovative technology and extensive content, but also had a team whose vision and philosophy was aligned to ours. With Travelport, we have a partner that is bringing a new dynamic to travel distribution, and one that will keep us ahead of the game now and in the future."
