Hear this: shut the phones off
Most US air travelers believe the FCC should not lift the current ban on cell phone use during flights, according to a new study.
Of the 702 air travelers surveyed, 63% wanted to keep cell phone restrictions in place. Only 21% wanted to let people talk away during flights, according to the study sponsored by the Association of Flight Attendants/Communications Workers of America and the National Consumers League.
The Federal Aviation Administration is conducting a study through the end of this month to determine whether eliminating the ban would cause safety problems with aircraft navigational equipment.
