Heathrow Airport flights hit by freezing fog
Plunging temperatures have left Heathrow Airport travellers’ plans in disarray.
Dozens of flights were cancelled at Heathrow due to freezing fog.
British Airways alone announced more than 80 flight cancellations affecting over 10,000.
Overnight temperatures dropped to -8.4C near Heathrow Airport.
“Like other airlines, our schedule has been affected by the continued freezing fog conditions across London,” BA said.
“We advise customers to check ba.com for the latest flight information.”
The airport told airlines to cut 15% of flights due to visibility issues.
Visibility could drop as low as 50 metres in some parts of south and central England.
The Met Office issued a yellow weather alert for thick fog.
