Heathrow and Luton strikes called off

Sunday, 26 Apr, 2019 0

Baggage handlers and check-in staff at Heathrow have suspended today’s strike to vote on a new pay offer.

Over 300 workers for GH London at Terminals 2 and 4 will be balloted next week on the new offer, following talks between their union Unite and the company, via the conciliation service, Acas.

The ballot result will be known in the middle of May. Details of the offer are not being revealed until members have an opportunity to consider the pay package, said Unite.

Regional officer Kevin Hall said: "Following a new offer from the company, our members will be balloted on the deal next week. The details of the offer will not be revealed until our members have a chance to vote on it.

"As a result, the strike action planned for tomorrow has been suspended and our members will be working normally."

In a separate pay dispute at Luton airport, 120 GH London workers, members of Unite, have accepted by a large majority a new pay offer and, as a result, have cancelled today’s planned industrial action.
