Heathrow Express strike to go ahead
Heathrow Express is hoping to run “as near normal a service as possible” today, despite the threat of a strike by drivers. As reported, members of the union Aslef are due to walk out at midday today in a row over union recognition; today’s action is the first in three planned 24-hour strikes.
The organisation’s website, at www.heathrowexpress.com, said that all services were running on time this morning.
It states: “Heathrow Express has been informed by the ASLEF union of its intention for members to take industrial action over three 24 hour periods in October.
“Heathrow Express will be running throughout these dates and we are currently arranging contingency plans to run as near to our normal 15-minute frequency service as possible.” The other two 24-hour strikes are planned for 10 October and 13 October.
