Heathrow Airport has released images showing how the airport would look after expansion.

The series of images and artists impressions show the third runway, the new central terminal, business park and hotel developments.

Proposals include two main passenger terminals and transport hubs, Heathrow West (Terminals 5 and 6) and Heathrow East (an extended Terminal 2), connected by an underground passenger transit and baggage system.

The airport said with three runways, it will be able to operate 740,000 flights a year which puts it on an equal footing with Paris, Frankfurt and Amsterdam.

Here are some of the images:

Heathrow’s Central Terminal Area will undergo a ‘state of the art’ transformation with new hotels, traffic management and more.

The third runway would be 3,200m long, long enough for any aircraft to use.
