Helpline for agents caught by insurance firm failure
Travel & General Insurance Company has stepped in to aid travel agents affected by the liquidation of Whiteley Insurance Consultants.
Travel & General has purchased the travel insurance book of business from the liquidators of Whiteley, which traded under the names Kingfisher Travel Insurance and Kingfisher Insurance Services.
Whiteley’s is in provisional liquidation following action by the Financial Services Agency (FSA), as reported by TravelMole.
About 200 agents who dealt with Whiteley now have a helpline established by Travel & General to assist them.
Travel & General said it was liaising closely with the liquidators, PricewaterhouseCoopers and the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS), to assist and support agents and customers wherever possible.
It appears that 200 agents are likely to be affected and Travel & General is reviewing each case on an individual basis, according to a statement from the company. Travel & General said it was “confident” that it can find a solution for each agent and its customers.
The helpline number for agents who sold Whiteley or Kingfisher insurance is – 0845 408 0580.
