From November 1, the brands will become the airline’s exclusive rental partners.
The partnership offers MileagePlus loyalty members and Presidential Plus card members improved mileage bonuses when renting vehicles from Hertz.
Travelers can earn 500 miles per rental period for general members up to 1,250 per rental for Global Services, Premier 1K and Premier Platinum members.
Bookings with Hertz discount brands Dollar and Thrifty earn 50 miles a day for rentals of up to four days and 500 miles for rentals five days or longer.
United’s MileagePlus Premier Gold and Premier Silver members can also get complimentary Hertz Five Star status from January 1, which includes vehicle upgrades.
United said that services from current car rental partner Avis will no longer be offered at united.com when the Hertz partnership takes effect from November 1.
