High-speed internet access a trend
High-speed internet access continues to be popular with US hotels.
Two new developments:
• Embassy Suites Hotels says it has become the first all-suite brand to reach 100% high-speed internet access.
• Choice Hotels International has announced its own timetable for installing new high-speed internet (HSIA) access for all Comfort Inn, Comfort Suites, Quality, Clarion, Sleep Inn and MainStay Suites throughout the US.
HSIA will be in all meeting rooms, public areas and all guestrooms in all Comfort Suites, Clarion and Sleep Inn Hotels by the end of the year, the company announced.
All Comfort Inn, Quality and MainStay Suites will have HSIA by 31 May of next year.
Choice Hotels International represents more than 5,000 hotels open or under development in 42 countries.
Choice says that HSIA is now regarded as a “standard amenity” in all mid-scale brands. The hotel chain expects the move to increase its number of business travelers.
Embassy said HSIA is now in all of its 174 hotels, either through wired or wireless solutions, depending on property specifications.
“One of our most requested services in our hotels today is high-speed internet access,” said David Greydanus, senior vice president, brand management, for Embassy Suites Hotels.
