Hilton opens first golf resort in Tibet

Tuesday, 24 Mar, 2017 0
Hilton has officially checked into Tibet, bringing the first ever golf resort to the Himalayan autonomous region.

Hilton Linzhi Resort is also one of the world’s highest altitude golf resorts, set at an elevation of nearly 10,000 feet above sea level.

The resort has 220 rooms and suites, four dining venues, and a fitness centre and spa.

It also has meeting and event space including a pillar-free ballroom, a kid’s club and cinema.

The hotel even offers supplementary oxygen supply equipment for guests who need to acclimatise to the altitude.

"Tibet — or as locals refer to it, ‘The Throne of the Sun’ — is a remarkable, culturally vibrant area to debut our flagship brand," said Sean Wooden, vice president of brand management, Asia Pacific for Hilton.

The hotel lies just seven kilometres from Nyingchi Airport and is within easy reach of attractions including Namjagbrawa Mountain and the Medog Grand Canyon Adventure Tourism Area.
