Hilton to host TravelMole Travel Industry Question Time

Thursday, 30 Oct, 2006 0

The London Hilton Canary Wharf has been confirmed as the venue for next month’s TravelMole Travel Industry Question Time.

The debate on November 16 tackles the future of travel agents and follows on from last week’s successful Question Time on tour operators.

Advantage Travel Centres managing director John McEwan and Hotels4u.com sales and marketing director John Harding are the first speakers to be confirmed.

McEwan is also a board director of Triton Travel Group, the joint commercial purchasing company for Advantage, Global and Worldchoice and is a former managing director of Lunn Poly.

Prior to joining the online trade accommodation provider, Harding was sales director for Travelscene and is a former ABTA president.

After the Court of Appeal decision which means that agents will not have obtain ATOLS, there may have been a collective sigh of relief from the retail trade.

But with operators led by TUI poised to hugely increase their dynamic packaging capabilities following the ruling, agents will face even more competition.

And with more customers booking online, how should high street agents respond? Just who is leading the fight in the retail revolution?

The discussion, to be moderated by travel industry journalist and commentator Jeremy Skidmore, will feature a range of top speakers.

Question Time will be held on November 16 between 16.30-18.30 at the London Hilton Canary Wharf, South Quay, Marsh Wall, in conjuction with Dubai.
