Hingerty steps down from ATEC
Matt Hingerty, managing director of the Australian Tourism Export Council for the past five-and-a half-years, will leave the organisation early next year.
“I strongly believe in renewal, and after six years I believe it is time for a change – for both me and for ATEC,†he said.
Hingerty said the achievement of which he was most proud was the fostering of the industry’s youth through Young ATEC.

“There is a massive generational change underway in the industry at the moment, with brilliant young people coming through the ranks bringing a renaissance of new ideas and new passion.
“At the same time they are respectful and hungry for the knowledge of our industry’s pioneers. I am absolutely certain that because of them, our industry, and ATEC will thrive in the future.â€
Hingerty said he has no firm plans “other than engineering more time with my large and rapidly growing familyâ€.
ATEC said that the position of managing director will be advertised in national newspapers in mid-August.
