Holidays two thirds of time off for Brits
Britons spend an average 19 days on holiday per year, lower than other Europeans, according to a recent survey.
The survey, which questioned 9,200 people in 15 countries last October found that Australians took the most holiday, with an average 25 days a year, followed by their neighbours in New Zealand with 22 days.
Residents of Canada, The Netherlands, France, Spain and Germany all took more holidays than Britons according to the survey, which was commissioned by AXA, the UK holiday insurers.
The survey includes holidays taken abroad and domestically, and with the average holiday allowance at 21 days a year, plus eight Bank Holidays per year in the UK, it means Britons spend an average 63% of their time off on holiday.
Of the countries surveyed Japan came in bottom, with its residents taking an average nine days holiday a year.
