Hong Kong to restart cruises in July
Hong Kong has approved a cruise restart for late July.
Dream Cruises and Royal Caribbean International will base ships in Hong Kong and offer cruises to nowhere for Hong Kong residents starting on 30 July.
The Genting Dream ship will operate two-night cruises twice a week and one three-night cruise.
Royal Caribbean plans to offer two-, three- and four-night sailings on Spectrum of the Seas.
"Hong Kong’s swift action in the face of the recent fourth wave of Covid-19 has resulted in the quick reduction of recorded cases and has kept numbers low compared to global figures," said Genting Cruise Lines President Kent Zhu.
"In light of the improving situation in the city, we welcome the government’s announcement to allow the resumption of cruise operations."
It is thought that all adult passengers will require full vaccinations.
Both cruise lines have been offering cruises to nowhere in Singapore, and Dream Cruises has also operated domestic sailings in Taiwan.
