Hong Kong Tourism Board appoints new executive director
The Hong Kong Tourism Board has named Dane Cheng Ting-yat as new executive director.
Cheng takes over effective from November 1.
A seasoned travel industry professional, Cheng was executive director of Hang Lung Properties from 2017 to 2019 and held various senior positions at Cathay Pacific in general management, marketing and communications.
Cheng succeeds Anthony Lau Chun-hon who left the post earlier this summer.
"I am confident Cheng’s profound knowledge of the Hong Kong, Mainland and international markets will help the HKTB continue to promote Hong Kong worldwide with effective marketing strategies," said Pang Yiu-kai, HKTB chairman.
Cheng will work closely with travel trade partners and oversee the launch of global promotions to attract travellers back to Hong Kong.
The appointment comes at a key time as Hong Kong experiences its biggest tourism downturn for more than a decade.
Anti-government protests which have crippled the region for several months have significantly impacted the HK tourism industry.
