The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) and the Conseil Interprofessionnel du Vin de Bordeaux (CIVB) have signed a new five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), reaffirming their long-standing collaboration to promote wine and culinary tourism internationally.
Under the renewed agreement, Hong Kong and Bordeaux will elevate their partnership through five strategic initiatives: a stronger presence at the Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival, joint marketing campaigns in key international markets, collaborative programs designed to boost global consumer interest, enhanced knowledge-sharing around wine and gastronomy tourism, and deeper cooperation between wine and culinary industry professionals in both destinations.
The MoU was officially signed during a ceremony held in Bordeaux on May 11. The agreement was signed by HKTB Executive Director Anthony Lau and CIVB Vice President Philippe Tapie. The ceremony was attended by Hong Kong Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Rosanna Law, HKTB Chairman Peter Lam, Bordeaux Mayor Thomas Cazenave, and Bordeaux city representative Laure de Lambert Compeyrot.
Dr. Peter Lam said: “With the continued support of the CIVB since 2009, we have successfully built the Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival into one of Asia’s most anticipated annual culinary events. Bordeaux wines remain one of the festival’s most popular highlights year after year. This new agreement marks an important milestone and opens a new chapter in the relationship between Hong Kong and Bordeaux — two cities united by a shared passion for exceptional food and wine.”
He added: “We sincerely appreciate the continued support of the City of Bordeaux. We look forward to bringing this strengthened partnership to life at the Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival and taking the event to the next level. Hong Kong will also leverage the international reputation of Bordeaux Fête le Vin as a global platform to showcase its rich culinary heritage and emerging wine culture to audiences worldwide.”
Philippe Tapie, Vice President of the CIVB, said: “Following the success of the cooperation between Hong Kong and Bordeaux since 2009, we are delighted to further strengthen this productive partnership with Hong Kong. This agreement opens new opportunities to deepen cultural and gastronomic exchanges and position Hong Kong as a key gateway for promoting the excellence of Bordeaux wines and cuisine to consumers across China, Asia, and beyond.”
Supported by the CIVB, the 2025 edition of the Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival recorded strong attendance and delivered positive business results for exhibitors and participating merchants. The HKTB said it will continue enhancing the festival experience to reinforce its position as Hong Kong’s flagship culinary event while strengthening the city’s reputation as Asia’s events capital.
