Hoseasons’ parent reports rise in luxury bookings
The trend for luxury is on the up according to Hoseasons’ owner Wyndham Vacation Rentals UK.
Peak summer bookings for self-catering specialist Hoseasons were up 13% in June compared to the same month last year, with luxury lodge bookings up 21% and boutique hot tub breaks up 25% year-on-year for the same period.
The increasing trend for quality was also evident in peak bookings through Wyndham’s property rental company cottages.com last month, with luxury sales up 49% and hot tub bookings up 35%.
Simon Altham, managing director – revenue, at Hoseasons and cottages.com parent company Wyndham Vacation Rentals UK, believes external factors may have contributed to the surge in demand for better quality UK breaks this summer, including continued uncertainty surrounding Brexit and the falling value of the pound.
He said: "In times of uncertainty, getting value for money is at the forefront of consumers’ minds.
"Hardworking Brits might be feeling the pinch, but they don’t want to compromise on quality when it comes to their well-earned breaks.
"High-end lodge and luxury cottage properties offer those looking to enjoy the finer things a perfect break away, without having to break the bank."
The South West continues to be the best-performing region for Hoseasons, with peak summer bookings made last month up 21% compared to June 2016.
North Yorkshire, Northumberland and North Norfolk were the best-selling areas for cottages.com over the same period, with bookings up 37% compared to June 2016.
