Hosting meeting planners in Boston worth $1.4 billion

Sunday, 24 Aug, 2006 0

Everyone knows it’s lucrative for a city to host meeting officials but just how profitable is it?

More than $1.4 billion in future convention business in Boston, says Hotel Online.

That prediction came after the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and the Center for Association Leadership held their annual meeting in August in the city.

“The center estimates that approximately 20% of executives attending an ASAE & The Center meeting will book their own meetings in the host city over the next five years,” predicted officials with the Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau.

It gets even better for Boston because it’s hosting the Student & youth Travel Association in September. That’s worth an estimated $2 billion in student and youth travel annually.

And the National Business Travel Association (NBTA) is also planning its annual meeting there in 2007.
