Hotel company apologises for security breach
Ritz-Carlton has apologised to its guests for a security breach at Epsilon, the hotel company’s Dallas-based email marketing provider.
Epilson’s database was hacked, allowing potential access to thousands of email addresses.
The Ritz-Carlton said an unauthorised third party gained access to a number of Epsilon’s accounts including The Ritz-Carlton email list.
“We want to assure you that the only information obtained was your name and email address. Your account and any other personally identifiable information are not at risk,†said Ritz-Carlton in an email to its guests.
The hotel company advised that guests should “continue to be on the alert for spam emails requesting personal or sensitive informationâ€.
Epsilon, whose client list also includes Marriott Rewards and Hilton Honors, said a full investigation was underway.
