Hotel of the Week: The Scarlet, Newquay

Rachel Roberts is so relaxed she’s almost horizontal after her visit to this spa hotel.

I may just have tasted the pudding of my life at The Scarlet in Cornwall. Where to start? The shiny honeycomb ball that shattered with the gentlest tap of a spoon to reveal soft white chocolate mousse inside; the insanely intense blackcurrant sorbet that fizzed on the tongue or the squares of soft pistachio cake that were light as air?

It’s the kind of dessert that you wake up thinking about; hoping (OK; praying) that the pudding gods will smile down upon you and  it will be on menu again that evening. Which could of course be a little bit of problem if you’ve arrived at The Scarlet Hotel and Spa in Cornwall hoping to lose weight during your stay. You have been warned!
