Hotel rates rise, bookings fall
Business and leisure hotel bookings dropped in June from last year’s levels both globally and in North America, says the just-released ‘Pegasus View’ survey conducted by Pegasus Solutions.
While bookings dropped, rates increased.
The survey says corporate bookings dropped by double digits both worldwide and in North America. Leisure bookings sank by a smaller margin.
Hotel rates rose globally and in North America for both business and leisure markets. Pegasus reports a nearly +3.0 percent increase for June for the global corporate market. North American rates beat global ones by double, rising +6.0 percent over last year’s performance.
Leisure rates also rose, but at a slower rate, hiking +2.2 percent globally and +1.9 percent in North America.
