Hotels not honoring rate guarantees

Tuesday, 07 Apr, 2005 0

Hotels are often not honoring their price guarantees advertised on their Web sites, according to a new study by KPMG.

The professional research firm’s study found that while 43% of hotels offered the best Web rate price guarantee, only 27% delivered the price promise.

The KPMG global survey involved 330 hotels in 16 countries.

UK hotels were the worst offenders with only 19% honoring guarantees.

The survey found the majority of the cheapest hotel room rates are still found on the internet.

The survey also found some regional trends, including the finding that corporate travelers in America get the best deals with corporate travel agents.
