Hotwire names most popular Labor Day destinations
Guess what cities are the most booked for Labor Day weekend? Perhaps it should come as no surprise that they are New York, Chicago and Boston — cities that all have close ties to the history of the holiday.
Two of the cities, New York and Boston, were the actual birthplaces of Labor Day. The first one was observed in 1878 in Boston and the first official celebration of the holiday took place in New York in 1882, according to Hotwire.
And Chicago?
“It has its own rich history in the American labor movements,” said Hotwire.
