How many Qantas engineers does it take to change a light bulb?
The Mole hopes that the the bizarre industrial action being taken by Qantas engineers – right-handed engineers will use only their left hands for screwdrivers and spanners – will not be followed by Qantas pilots, who are due to discuss industrial action this weekend.
The Australian Licenced Aircraft Engineers Association has written to Qantas advising that two members, one in Melbourne and one in Perth, would not use their right hands for the essential tools for a week, starting Friday.
Qantas pilots, who are also locked into a pay and perks dispute with the airline – have voted for industrial action, and will settle on what kind of action they will take after talks among themselves over the weekend.
If they follow the example of the engineers, we wonder whether the pilots will land their planes with their right eyes covered up?
Or maybe they will use the left-hand taxiways and only fly left after take-off.
All this might be amusing but for the fact that Qantas is heading for extreme turbulence and the engineers and pilots might turn up to work one day to find….there’s nothing left at all.
