The Southwest Airlines website and systems are back up after another outage lasting several hours but flights are still likely to be impacted.

According to flight tracking site FlightAware, as of midnight Tuesday, more than 900 flights had been delayed across its network. That represents nearly a quarter of all flights.

The Southwest website and app crashed Tuesday morning and affected some customers from booking and checking n for flights.

The airlne earlier said:  "We are currently experiencing difficulty with domestic bookings and other website functionality. We are working to restore functionality and apologize for any inconvenience.  Please try back later.”

Despite the massive number of delays, Southwest spokesman Dan Landson claimed the system outage was not affecting flight operations.

This latest IT glitch came just days before the holidays with hundreds of customers taking to social media seeking answers.

It is the second major IT outage this year for Southwest after an earlier glitch cost millions and caused disruption to thousands of flights over several days.
