Hurricane Gonzalo heads to Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico
Hurricane Gonzalo was forecast to affect parts of the Caribbean including the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico from last night.
The Foreign Office warned that high winds, heavy rain and flash flooding was possible.
Earlier, airports, government offices and schools were shut in the British Virgin Islands as tropical storm Gonzalo strengthened.
In the three-island territory of the US Virgin Islands, the international airport on St. Thomas shut after airlines cancelled flights. All seaports were also closed, reports ABC news.
For several hours on Monday, heavy rain and strong winds hit Antigua, which bore the brunt of the storm.
