Hurtigruten to develop online bookings

Regent Seven Seas commercial manager Karen Sequeira has joined Hurtigruten as UK and Ireland marketing manager.

Sequeira, who was head of marketing communication at Swan Hellenic before Regent, is develop Hurtigruten’s e-commerce strategy incorporating a booking tool for customers, improving internet functionality and content.

She takes overall responsibility for the niche cruise line’s marketing activity and is to develop an “aggressive approach” to align Hurtigruten with the surge in specialist cruising and the 50+ market that now regularly uses the internet.

Managing director Iain Cottam said: “Karen brings with her immense experience in the cruise market which will be invaluable to us.

“Specialist cruising is the fastest growing sector of the cruise industry and a major part of Karen’s role will be to ensure we are at the forefront of leading this growth.

“We also plan to develop our internet site over the next 12 months and Karen’s role will enable her to create a strategy in line with that of the Hurtigruten group worldwide.”
