Ian Mounser’s travel colleagues join a celebration of his life
Travel industry colleagues of Ian Mounser gathered in York for his funeral and a celebration of his life on Tuesday.
Around 100 people, including former colleagues at Superbreak and other friends in the industry, joined his family for the funeral at York Crematorium, followed by a celebration of Ian’s life at Sandburn Golf Club in Flaxon.
"Ian had written his own order of service and eulogy which were typically Ian, meticulous to a point and very fitting," said Madeleine Roast, long-time public relations consultant to Superbreak.
"His dry sense of humour came through and had everyone smiling through the tears."
She said Ian had picked some beautiful songs for the service, including Bring Him Home from Les Miserables, his all-time favourite musical.
"He had also written a lovely poem which a friend read out," said Roast. "There was plenty of colour worn by everyone, just as Ian had requested.
"The atmosphere at the golf club was upbeat as everyone discussed their memories, just as Ian would have wanted."
The Superbreak sales director, a much-loved and respected member of the travel industry, died last month at the age of 60 after a long battle with cancer.
For those who would like to remember Ian, his family has suggested donations to Prostate Cancer UK.
