IATA launches digital ID cards for agents
IATA has started rolling out digital identification cards on the IATA AgentExperience app.
It says new agent digital ID cards will significantly reduce the verification process of travel professionals when claiming offers with suppliers.
The ID cards can be emailed to suppliers for fast verification with a QR code scan.
It allows agents to access their IATA cards on their smartphones.
After online renewal the cards are available within 48 hours, which is a vast improvement on the existing six weeks delivery of physical cards by mail.
Accredited card holders get exclusive access to training modules and travel rewards from suppliers such as hotels, airlines, attractions, as well as FAM trip opportunities.
The mobile app was first piloted with agents in Canada and Australia and notched up more than 4,000 downloads in six weeks, IATA said.
