IHG signs first two EVEN Hotels
Holiday Inn parent InterContinental Hotels Group has announced that the first two properties in its new EVEN Hotels wellness brand will be along the Washington-to-New York corridor, in Rockville, Maryland, and Norwalk, Connecticut.
The two cities are both "affluent communities with a high wellness-minded resident and traveler base," IHG noted.
Both properties will be conversions, designed to offer flexible public workspaces, dining and social areas; natural outdoor spaces, in-room fitness elements, a state-of-the-art three-zone gym and space for small-group fitness classes.
The Rockville property will have 167 guest rooms on seven guestroom floors; Norwalk will have 129 guest rooms and four floors. Both are expected to open in early 2014.
The EVEN Hotels brand concept is a result of more than 24 months of consumer-insights research that provides a variety of options to help guests Eat Well, Rest Easy, Keep Active and Accomplish More.
Adam Glickman, head of EVEN Hotels, noted that a recent McKinsey & Company report estimated that global health and wellness sales will reach $1 trillion by 2017.
