‘Imbecile’ tourists booted out of Venice for surfing the Grand Canal
Two men were branded ‘imbeciles’ by Venice Mayor Luigi Brugnaro after another incident of tourists behaving badly in Italy.
The two tourists were arrested for speeding on Venice’s Grand Canal using motorized surfboards.
Brugnaro tweeted they ‘are making a mockery of the city.’
They were fined $1,530 each and their surfboards were confiscated. They were also kicked out of the city.
There have been recent incidents of a tourist riding a moped through Pompeii and an e-scooter stunt at Rome’s Spanish Steps causing local outrage.
