India Surf Festival making waves in Odisha
The fourth edition of the India Surf Festival is has been announced for February 6-8 at Ramchandi Beach, Odisha.
Organisers are promising an action packed weekend in the water with a SUP Cup competition with $1,000 in prize money, water and beach yoga, a long boarding workshop and kite-surfing demonstrations.
Photography,, art and music events are also planned.
The major highlight is the introduction of the new game of SUP Ball, debuting in Asia for the first time.
India Surf Festival’s founder Sanjay Samantaray says the festival has spurred tremendous interest in surfing and water sports in general among Indians.
"The mission is to make people realize the importance of low-impact water sports and to make it an open festival and not make it limited to just the sports enthusiasts," Samantaray said.
Odisha Tourism department is supporting the event along with travel industry backers such as Outlook Traveller and Travel Link.
The festival is set to be included on the Asian Surfing Championship tour, however the sports of stand up paddle and kite surfing have taken off big time in the last couple of years.
