Indian railways opens one-stop travel centre
The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) plans to set up a full service ‘Tourist Facilitation Centre’ in downtown New Delhi to offer a one-stop shop for tourism products and services.
It will offer rail, land and air travel packages along with travel insurance, visa services, sightseeing and stand-alone flight and hotel bookings.
"This will be the first of its kind initiative for tourists where the entire travel needs are taken care of under one roof. This is also the only brick-and-mortar office of the IRCTC where people can walk in to buy a train or air travel package and even get a customized trip at their convenience," said IRCTC director AK Manocha.
The new centre will handle all IRCTC train packages such as the Tirupati and Shirdi pilgrim trains, and Goa and Kerala packages.
Citing the Tirupati package from Delhi as an example, customers can book air tickets, coach travel from hotel accommodation, food and VIP services in a single package.
It is being targeted at both domestic and international travellers, Manocha said.
