IndiGo launching direct London flights
India’s largest airline IndiGo confirmed plans to launch long haul flights to a host of international destinations.
It includes two UK cities – Manchester and London, as well as Amsterdam, Athens and Copenhagen during the current financial year.
IndiGo had previously unveiled plans for Amsterdam and Manchester which will launch first in July.
These routes will be served by Boeing 787-9 aircraft.
“There is an enormous opportunity in Indian aviation where rising demand is supported by infrastructure expansion,” IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers said.
The Manchester and Amsterdam flights will take off from Mumbai.
Other routes planned are to Siem Reap, Cambodia and four cites in Central Asia.
IndiGo operates more than 2,300 flights daily with a fleet of more than 400 aircraft.
