IndiGo launching flights to Istanbul
India’s largest airline is again spreading its wings with the launch of flights to Istanbul, Turkey.
It becomes the first Indian carrier to serve Turkey.
Daily flights from Delhi will take off on March 20 on the airline’s new Airbus A321neo aircraft.
The launch of the Istanbul service will see IndiGo’s plans to spread its wings to Europe put on hold for at least a year, however it has recently inked a codeshare agreement with Turkish Airlines offering one-stop connections to destinations across the continent.
"Istanbul is the gateway from Asia into Europe. It’s our privilege to be the first Indian carrier to fly into Turkey," said IndiGo’s CCO, William Boulter.
Istanbul becomes the carrier’s 16th international destination and it has plans to expand further in Southeast and Central Asia.
