Indonesia launches dedicated UK website
Indonesia’s tourism ministry has launched its first dedicated UK website to highlight the attractions of its key holiday destinations.
Designed to be a planning tool and a source of news, the website – tourism-indonesia.co.uk – features just seven destinations within Indonesia.
In addition to Bali and Java, the main Indonesian destination for UK visitors, it includes information on Sumatra, Sulawesi, Kalimantan on the island of Borneo, Papua and Nusa Tenggara Island.
Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy said the new site reflected its commitment to its largest European source market and the potential it sees for growth from the UK.
Each destination page things to see and do; how to get there; and practical details of the island’s culture, cuisine and people.
Also included are news items from Indonesia and UK visitor statistics.
The launch of tourism-indonesia.co.uk comes ahead of the re-launch of Garuda Indonesia’s non-stop flights from London to Jakarta on May 29.
"With Indonesia becoming more accessible to UK visitors from May, it is important that reliable information about this fascinating archipelago is easily accessible, too," said country manager Richard Hume. "Our new site aims to demonstrate how many attractions Indonesia has for UK travellers and just how rewarding a trip to this captivating destination can be."
