Indonesia OTA acquired by e-commerce platform Blibli
Leading Indonesia based online travel agent Tiket.com has been bought by major e-commerce site Blibli.com.
No financial details of the transaction were disclosed although the two companies were in talks for several months.
"We see that it is going to open up great opportunities for Tiket.com to grow exponentially looking at the potential and similarity in culture and business vision, we are so excited to join the Blibli family," said Tiket.com chief communications officer Gaery Undarsa.
Blibli also announced the appointment of a new CEO for Tiket.com, George Hendrata.
"Tiket.com has a good business track record that shows it was able to become one of the biggest online travel agents in a short period," Blibli.com chief executive Kusumo Hartanto said.
Tiket.com offers flight, hotels, car rental, tours and attractions and train tickets.
Blibli.com, which recently started a travel services category on its own website, said it will support Tiket.com in terms of sales, marketing and human resources.
Both businesses will continue to operate as separate brands.
