Indonesian crew return home after cruise disaster
A group of 14 Balinese crewmen rescued from the stricken Costa Concordia cruise ship off the Italian coast were reluctant to talk about the experience when they arrived home on Friday.
Another 39 crew members were being flown back to Bali over the weekend.
The discovery by divers of another two bodies from the stricken cruise ship leaves 18 passengers still unaccounted for and 15 confirmed dead.
ԬլOne of the crew, who worked as a waiter on board the Costa Concordia, said he was exhausted from the ordeal of a week earlier, when the ship hit rocks off Tuscany and listed over.
He said the entire incident happened very quickly, and credited his previous safety training drills for helping him get through it. Ԭլ
Crew members told the Jakarta Globe that none of the workers had been notified by their recruiting companies about whether they would be compensated.
The Indonesian Embassy in Rome confirmed that it had accounted for all 170 Indonesians who worked on the cruise liner. Ԭ
