Industry outsider takes top sales job at Cunard
Cunard has appointed cruise industry outsider Simon Palethorpe in the newly-created role of SVP sales and marketing.
He will join the cruise line on April 11 to help lead brand growth.
Palethorpe’s career has been mainly in the food and retail industries, including PepsiCo and John Lewis, although he also worked as commercial director for Avis Europe.
His most recent employment was with Terra Firma Capital Partners, where he managed a portfolio of online businesses in the food, cosmetics and ticketing industries.
Carnival UK CEO David Noyes said: "This is a key year for Cunard with the remastering of the company’s flagship, Queen Mary 2. Simon’s appointment will reinforce our efforts to take the Cunard brand to new audiences around the world."
