InsideJapan hails success of first tours

This summer, Bristol and Japan based InsideJapan Tours – part of Inside Travel Group – was the first western tour operator to get customers back in Japan after over two years of closed borders.

The Japan travel specialist has had three small group tours in July with two more in August and feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.

Demand for small group tour places has remained high.

“Our first tour has meant so much to the team, the partners on the ground, the customers and our agent partners,” said Co-Founder Simon King.

“With guidelines in place, there was a little concern over customer experience and enjoyment of Japan, but feedback has been hugely positive. ”

The current guidelines mean that international visitors to Japan must use the services of a tour leader or guide during their time in Japan and there is an added requirement for international travellers to apply for visas before travel.

“Despite additional hurdles for international tourists, we have been able to get people travelling again on small group tours and custom made, guided Exclusive Private Journeys,” said King.

Small group tour sales for both June and August exceeded the equivalent months in 2019 with July falling narrowly short of its pre-pandemic level.

InsideJapan has had over 50 people travel to Japan since July and continues to see a demand for travel in 2022.

InsideJapan has around 30 small group tours running between September and December covering most of the country.

King added, “There is only a handful of small group tour places left for 2022 and we want our trade partners to be aware that we can get their customers travelling.”

A full schedule of available Small Group Tours for autumn 2022, through 2023 is available on www.InsideJapanTours.com

The Japanese government is expected to make further announcements in the coming days about changes to its international border policy.
