Insurance warning for travellers to Thailand
Thai tourism chiefs are urging holidaymakers to check their travel insurance if they are due to travel to the country in the next few weeks.
They have warned that some travel insurance policies exclude cover during a coup d’etat and therefore insurance may be invalid.
Travellers arer advised check with their insurance provider to make sure they will be covered for claims arising from the current situation.
A curfew remains in place across Thailand, which means tourists and locals must stay indoors between 10pm and 5am.
In their latest advice, Thai tourism bosses are warning of reports of some small groups of anti-coup protesters marching through Bangkok.
"A coup dictates that gatherings of five or more people are not allowed and so the army may intervene to disseminate these groups to ensure peace and order in the city," it said.
"We recommend that tourists visiting Bangkok exercise caution and remain alert to the situation by following local news and media."
Echoing the advice of the UK Foreign office, it said if tourists are in any doubt about their safety they should stay in their accommodation.
