An investigation has been launched after a man managed to sneak on board an easyJet flight at Gatwick and hide in the toilets.

The 25-year-old had missed his original flight to Geneva on Sunday and then decided to get on to a later one.

When he realised all seats were taken, he hid in the toilets but was discovered when cabin crew noticed the engaged light was on.

On arriving in Geneva he was taken off the plane by police and detained for questioning.

An easyJet spokeswoman confirmed the passenger had ‘incorrectly boarded the aircraft’.

"The crew correctly identified the passenger should not be on board and immediately reported it to the police. We have taken this up with our ground staff and an investigation has been launched," she said.
