Investigation starts after Aer Arran crash
An investigation has been launched into yesterday’s crash at Shannon Airport.
An Aer Arran aircraft travelling from Manchester crashed when it landed in windy conditions at the airport.
All 21 passengers and four crew on board survived the incident, which saw the ATR-72 skid about 100 metres along the runway before coming to rest on a grass verge in front of the air traffic control tower.
According to reports, the aircraft’s nosewheel seemed to collapse, sending it veering off along the runway.
In inquiry has now begun by the Irish Air Accident Investigation Unit.
