Investors ‘keen to buy UK travel businesses’
Investors are still keen to acquire profitable niche operators, despite Brexit uncertainty, according to the company that advised on the sale of Travelopia’s Flexiski brand to Hotelplan UK.
Deborah Potts, founding director of Summit Advisory, said there was an appetite from overseas as well as UK buyers.
Her company has recently also advised on the sale of Sports Tours to Rayburn Tours in April, walking tours specialist Mickledore Travel to KE Adventures, and Rob Roy Tours DMC to Austrian tour operator Travel Europe.
"Despite all the Brexit uncertainty, there is a strong demand for clearly differentiated, niche, profitable travel companies from UK, international and private equity buyers," said Potts. ‘The secret is understanding not just the numbers, but what makes a particular travel business special in its own particular sector."
Hotelplan UK, which also owns established ski brands Inghams, Esprit and Ski Total, announced this week that it had acquired short break specialist Flexiski for an undisclosed sum.
