Radisson Blu Responsible Business Co-ordinator shares experience

Andrew Mullen, Chief Engineer at Radisson Blu Hotel & Spa Cork is not only Responsible Business Coordinator and Trainer at his Green Hospitality Award Gold certified property –he has a long list of achievements to his name.

In 2008 and 2009 he was a finalist in the Sustainable Energy Ireland Energy Manager of the Year Awards; while in 2009 was shortlisted for the Irish Hospitality Institute Environmental Manager of the Year Award. His hotel has also been shortlisted for a Chambers Ireland Environmental Award and a Greenme.ie Award and Andrew has begun to lecture hotel management students on our environmental policies and the importance of preserving resources so as to protect the planet for future generations.

Due to this outstanding success, Andrew and the hotel received many enquiries about their environmental policies and energy saving results.

The hotel seized the opportunity to share its experience and the knowledge gained over the past few years with as many people as possible and thus the blog was born.

Says Andrew “It’s an environmentally friendly way of getting a lot of information out there. It is my hope that people will follow it as often as possible and see for themselves how easy it is to reduce waste, water and energy consumption and save themselves thousands in the process."

"I see the blog as our contribution to the reduction of carbon emissions beyond our own property. It is part of our commitment to the environment and our social and corporate responsibility to reduce our impact on the environment by helping others to reduce their carbon footprint.”
