Italy flights cancelled amid strike action
British Airways has cancelled and re-timed some of its Italy flights today due to strikes at the country’s airports.
Trade unions representing workers at some airports are threatening to hold industrial action.
"As a result we have proactively re-timed some flights to avoid the strike periods at certain airports, but unfortunately we have also been forced to cancel a small number of flights," said BA.
"We will be using larger aircraft, where possible, to help affected customers and are doing all we can to reduce any disruption."
It also warned passengers may face delays in how baggage is processed on arriving flights and how flight departures at some airports in Italy are managed.
"Although the industrial action is beyond our control and will affect many airlines, we are sorry for any potential delays to your travel plans," BA added.
EasyJet said it was working to minimise the strike impact but warned of cancellations and potential delays.
EasyJet cabin crew in Italy are also planning industrial action today but the airline said it didn’t expect any disruption as a result of their strike.
