ITM members approve merger

Friday, 09 May, 2005 0

Members of Institute of Travel Management (ITM) have voted overwhelming in favour of a merger with Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE).

The merger means that the ITM name will disappear and become ACTE UK and Ireland in the next few months.

The move is intended to create a single, powerful new voice in the business travel industry. According to ITM, 81% of buyers and 98% of suppliers who voted were in favour of merger.

ITM chairman Tom Stone said: “The board felt from the outset that this was the right move for ITM, but the final decision always lay with our members. The message has come back loud and clear, and we will shortly be drawing up an implementation plan, together with our new colleagues from ACTE, for the implementation of the merger and the creation of ACTE UK and Ireland.”

ACTE UK and Ireland will be the second largest of the five ACTE regions, with around 1,000 members against a total global membership of 3,500 buyers, managers and suppliers of business travel.
