Jakarta tees up golf promotion for Asia
The city of Jakarta has launched its first ever golf tourism promotion with a campaign targeting Australia and other key markets.
Entitled ‘Enjoy Jakarta Golf,’ the promotion coincides with Jakarta’s preparations to host the fourth Asia Golf Tourism Convention (AGTC) in cooperation with global golf tourism organisation IAGTO.
Asia Golf Tourism Convention will take place from 27-30 April 2015 at the Balai Sindang Jakarta Convention Center.
"Today we begin a six-month program of promotions in Australia, China, Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, Korea and the Philippines to deliver a clear message to golfers that they should consider Jakarta for their next golf break," explained Hari Wibowo, manager of international promotion for Enjoy Jakarta.
"We have named the campaign Enjoy Jakarta Golf and this is exactly what we are inviting Australian golfers and others from around the world to do! There are 30 golf courses in and around Jakarta and we know, after two years of working with this lucrative niche segment, that golf visitors really love the Jakarta golf experience."
The campaign is multi-faceted and will include the creation of a Enjoy Jakarta Golf website in several languages, ads on broadcast TV, in-flight TV and other digital platforms, and organizers will promote the campaign at the International Golf Travel Market in Italy next month.
Arie Budhiman, executive director of Jakarta’s Tourism & Culture Office says the convention is a coup for the city and will be the most important golf tourism event in Asia Pacific.
We know that Jakarta offers one of the best city golf experiences on the planet, so we encourage all golfers to come and try the Jakarta golf experience."
