JAL agrees codeshare partnership with Aeromexico
Japan Airlines has struck a deal to begin codesharing with Aeromexico.
The two airlines will kick off the codeshare pact in 2018 with the goal of expanding connectivity between Japan and Mexico.
The agreement is still subject to the usual regulatory approvals.
Both are looking at other opportunities to improve the cross-carrier customer experience by possibly offering reciprocal lounge access and frequent flyer accrual.
Aeromexico launched its Mexico City-Tokyo Narita service more than a decade ago and earlier this year expanded to daily flights on the route.
JAL currently connects eight Mexican cities through another codeshare from Los Angeles and Dallas Fort Worth.
This will increase to about 20 destinations once the Aeromexico codeshare partnership kicks in, and it will offer routes connecting Los Angeles with other Mexican cities through their domestic network.
